This \u201cregional\u201d martial art form is said to have originated from a province known as \u201cTinh Binh Dinh\u201d located in Vietnam. Apparently, all combat forms practiced in the Tinh Binh Dinh Province is said to be Vo Binh Dinh\/Vo Thuat Binh Dinh. Furthermore, there are about 11 huyen (i.e. counties or districts) within this province that practice this style of martial art.\u00a0 In addition, a uniform generally comprising of a black robe is worn while practicing this combat style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>a. History\/origin of the Vo Thuat Binh Dinh:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the cultural history of Vietnam, any form of martial art that is practiced within villages located in a province known as \u201cTinh Binh Dinh\u201d is termed as Vo Thuat Binh Dinh. It is also commonly referred to as Vo Binh Dinh. Apparently, a village like An Thai is popular for martial arts using bare hands, while the Thuan Truyen Quyen Village is known for its use of a combat form that basically uses a staff as weapon. In addition, a comprehensive list comprising of 18 weapons are made use in this form of combat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>b. Weapon used in the Vo Thuat Binh Dinh:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are 18 basic weapons used in this combat form and they include:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Con:<\/strong> Is a long staff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kiem:<\/strong> Is a straight sword.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dao: <\/strong>It includes a broad sword, a dual miniature broad sword, and miniature broad sword on a staff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thuong: <\/strong>Essentially is a pointed spear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Giao: <\/strong>Basically is a wide tip spear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kich: <\/strong>Basically is crescent blade staff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gian: <\/strong>Basically is a scepter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phu, Song Phu and Single Axe: <\/strong>Comprises of dual axes and hammers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Song Chuy: <\/strong>Is a dual melon hammer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bura Cao: <\/strong>Is essentially a rake.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lang Khien: <\/strong>Is basically a shield with a broad sword.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cung Ten: <\/strong>Is basically a bow and arrow.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xich: <\/strong>Is a chain whip.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xa mau: <\/strong>Is a serpent cane.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dinh Ba: <\/strong>Is a Tiger fork\/pitch fork.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mo Gay: <\/strong>Is a fisherman\u2019s spear\/two point spear.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Song Xi, Song To, and Song Dao: <\/strong>Are dual blades.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Song Cau: <\/strong>Is a dual hook sword.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0c.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Technique involved in the Vo Thuat Binh Dinh and training availability:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In terms of technique, \u00a0some villages in the province of Tinh Binh Dinh use a version of Vo Thuat Binh Dinh that make use of empty hand techniques, while a few others make use of a wide range of weapons.
