This \u201cstriking\u201d combat form is said to have originated from the Rizal Province located in the Philippines. Although, this form of fighting does involve the use of the hand it mainly focuses on the use of feet i.e. kicking techniques. Apparently, the word Sikaran when literally translated means \u201ckick\u201d. Furthermore, the popularity of this combat form has gradually spread globally over the years especially in countries such as the United States of America, Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>a. History\/origin of Sikaran: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the cultural history of the Philippines, Sikaran was first developed in the country in a town known as Baras located in the Rizal Province. Apparently, this martial art form was created much before the Spanish colonial rule took over the country during the 16<sup>th<\/sup> century. Unfortunately, there are no written records about the origins of this martial art form since most of the Filipino people were uneducated during that period. Furthermore, knowledge related to this combat form was in fact orally passed on from one generation to another. In addition, as of today Sikaran has become a rare martial art form that is hardly practiced by the people, and hence practitioners of this style are rarely available in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>b. Weapon used in the Sikaran:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since in this combat form the focus is mainly on \u201ckicking\u201d the weapon basically used are the \u201cfeet\u201d of the fighters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>c. Technique used in the Sikaran and training availability<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In terms of technique, a fighter in Sikaran essentially uses a variety of different \u201ckicking\u201d styles to overcome an opponent. In addition, a kick known as \u201cBiakid\u201d is mainly used in this combat form. Furthermore, the \u201cBiakid kick\u201d essentially involves the fighter pivoting to the back by completing a turn and targeting the side or back of the head of the opponent.
