Belonging to the \u201cMizo\u201d community is a South Asian form of physical combat known as Inuban wrestling. This \u201cgrappling\u201d form of combat is said to have originated from Mizoram located in the northeast of India. Apparently, Inuban wrestling was officially recognized as a sport only when the \u201cMizo\u201d people migrated from Burma to Lushai Hills located in between Mizoram and Tripura in the northeast of India.<\/p>\n
a. History\/origin of the Inbuan Wrestling:<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the cultural history of Mizoram, Inbuban Wrestling is said to have been developed in the year 1750 in a village located in the state called Dungtlang. Furthermore, it was only when the \u201cMizo\u201d people settled in the Lushai Hills that this combat form was officially accepted as a sport by the Mizoram society.<\/p>\n b. Weapon used in the Inuban Wrestling:<\/strong><\/p>\n Since \u201cgrappling\u201d techniques are mainly used in this combat form the main weapon used would be the \u201carms\u201d of the wrestler.<\/p>\n c. Technique involved in the Inuban Wrestling and training availability:<\/strong><\/p>\n In terms of technique, a fighter is required to lift opponent off the ground. Furthermore, in this form of wrestling a fighter is strictly not allowed to bend knees, use kicks, or even step outside the circle. In addition, a wrestler wears a \u201ccatch hold belt\u201d around the waist in this form of combat. As for training centre\/schools, there are none available around the world since this \u201cgrappling\u201d form of combat is mainly practiced within the \u201cMizo\u201d community in Mizoram.<\/p>\n
